about

On April 12th, 1963, American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan recited the poem, "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie". Bob was asked to write what Woody meant to him in 25 words. Instead, he wrote five pages.

This is for you mister Dylan, a follow up. I called it "Last Thoughts" as a tribute, but in truth they certainly won't be. In fact my silly naive highschooler butt didn't even put together that you wrote "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie" when he was in the hospital. You'd think the title would have clued me in, but either way hope there'll never be any last anythings for you with all the good stuff. Actually I thought you wrote it because he inspired you, maybe in a similar way to how you inspire me. In fact I wrote this for an assignment in high school, actually pursuing music as a career didn't really seem like an option for me at the time because I guess I didn't really believe in myself. Life's been tough to say the least, but when I hear your words I feel less alone and that gives me a lot of strength. I know this is a long shot but I hope this reaches you some day, and if it ever does I hope it gives you strength too. Wishing you good health, and thank you for Masters of War, fucking saved my life man. Means mountains to me.
